About the Artist
Iron Impressions is owned and operated by Jay Abbott. Jay has been welding for over 15 years. He started as an assistant and apprentice in 1996, working with
journeymen learning techniques of metal fabrication from measuring to completed projects. Jay worked his way up to foreman in a larger fabrication shop which
specialized in interior and exterior railing systems and other iron accessories for larger custom built homes.
He enjoyed being able to create functional and artistic architectural enhancements that people could enjoy and use in their homes. He realized that he enjoyed doing
the work himself and then decided to start his own company to gain more control of the creative process of fabricating high quality pieces. He also applies blacksmith
art skills to add to the individual creativity of his work.
Jay has a passion for fabricating pieces that have more of his own artistic craftsmanship and design while possessing functionality to the finished product. He also
enjoys replicating antique iron work to match certain historical eras. Jay strives to live up to the company name by having every project become it’s own impression.
